Shropshire Districts Level 1 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
In April 2007 a group comprising the Districts and Boroughs of Shropshire, Shropshire County Council and the Unitary Authority Telford and Wrekin Council commissioned Halcrow to produce a Level 1 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) in accordance with Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS 25).
The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment is a strategic document which refines information on the probability of flooding, taking other sources of flooding (including surface water, groundwater, foul and combined sewers, canals and reservoirs) and the impacts of climate change into account.
The SFRA provides the basis for a process (the Sequential Test) which seeks to locate new development in appropriate areas based on the development's vulnerability to flooding.
The full report is available on CD at a cost of £75. To obtain a copy please send a cheque made payable to South Shropshire District Council to Planning Policy Officer, SSDC, Stone House, Corve Street, Ludlow, SY8 1DG.
