Sustainability Appraisal (SA)
The purpose of the sustainability appraisal is to ensure integration of sustainability considerations into the preparation and adoption of plans that make up the LDF. The SA identifies and reports on the likely significant effects of a plan and the extent to which the implementation of the plan will achieve the social, environmental and economic objectives of sustainable development.
Sustainability Appraisal is an integral part of preparing documents for the LDF. With the exception of the Statement of Community Involvement which is a procedural document, the LDS which sets out the programme, and the AMR which reports on progress, SAs must be prepared to assess the impact of all documents. Although the preparation of a SA is a statutory requirement, the reports themselves do not form part of the plans.
So far Draft Scoping Reports have been prepared for the Core Strategy Issues and Options and Craven Arms Area Action Plan Issues and Options. These can be viewed on the relevant page for the associated document.
