Standards Committee Agendas
About Agendas
An agenda details the business to be discussed at a meeting of the Council. By law, the Council has to give five clear working days' notice of any public meeting, and copies must be available at our offices for the public to see.
About Reports
Attached to the agenda is background information - mostly in the form of reports - that give information that the Members need before they make decisions or recommendations.
Sometimes the reports recommend that Members take a particular decision, sometimes they merely provide information. Of course, the Members do not have to follow the recommendations of Officers.
The reports are written by the Council's Officers, who attend the meeting to provide any further information the Councillors may need.
As well as putting agendas on this website, the Council distributes them to the press and local libraries so that as many people as possible can find out what will be discussed and can choose to come and listen or perhaps speak if they are interested.
