Housing Grants
Grants Available
Currently the District can make grants for private sector housing as follows:
Minor Works Grant
Improvement or repair to remedy defects posing an immediate threat to health or work to ensure appropriate radon levels; lead levels in drinking water; or the quality of a private
water supply.
Renovation (Vacant Property) Grant
Agreed work to make a unit habitable, or to create a habitable unit.
Fire Safety And Houses in Multiple
Occupation Grant work which would warrant Council's intervention to provide
satisfactory means of escape or fire precautions.
Energy Efficiency Grant for loft insulation
Up to 250mm; cavity wall insulation; draught proofing; and for a hot water
cylinder jacket.
Disabled Facilities Grant
Adaptations necessary and appropriate to meet the needs of a disabled person.
Relocation (Disabled Facilities Grant)
Assistance the cost of relocating to a more suitable property in cases where Disabled Facilities Grant impracticable.
