What is Sports Development?
To develop and co-ordinate potential opportunities, in line with the Council's Sports and Leisure Development Plan.
To optimise the level of external funding which can be provided for this purpose.
To co-ordinate the building of a coaching infrastructure to optimise sporting potential in the district.
To help strengthen the club structure of sport in the District, moving towards the promotion of community sports clubs.
To build effective partnerships with a range of external agencies and national bodies who can all contribute to the development of sport within the District.
To help to adapt Youth Development Programme(s) to suit the various different local village hall circumstances, in terms of space and equipment available.
The service is used by a wide range of sports people and organisations.
- Those looking for advice on matters concerning participation, facilities, coaching and grant aid, either local or national.
- The benefits of the service are felt by the community by way of better facilities, better coaching and improved opportunities for participation.
- The service benefits all age ranges and supports facilities from village halls, local clubs as well as major facilities and organisations.
