Air Quality Detailed Assessment 2007 - Nitrogen Dioxide & Benzene
Two reports have been produced, one looking at Nitrogen Dioxide in Ludlow and Craven Arms; the other Benzene in Ludlow. The reports follow on from the Air Quality Updating and Screening assessment of March 2006.
The March 2006 USA report identified that there was a risk of air quality objectives for Nitrogen Dioxide being exceeded in Craven Arms and Ludlow due to emissions from road traffic, and a risk of the air quality objective for benzene being exceeded at one location in Ludlow due to emissions from vehicles refueling at a busy Ludlow petrol station. Additional monitoring was recommended in respect of these potential exceedences, and this has been carried out during 2006-7.
The Benzene report concluded that it is unlikely that the 2010 objective will be exceeded provided that the throughput of petrol at the service station does not increase dramatically.
The Nitrogen Dioxide report concluded that it was unlikely that there will be an exceedence in Craven Arms but that further work involving computer modelling was necessary in Ludlow to confirm that any exceedences remain unlikely here also.
