Advice for Local Businesses on the Proper Disposal of Business Waste
Arrange a trade waste contract
Be aware of your own and your employees' Health & Safety.
Handle waste safely
Contain your waste appropriately so as to prevent escape or leakage.
Dispose of your waste to authorised waste contractors only.
Make it your business to know what happens to your collected waste.
Ask if it can be Recycled. Always get a Waste Transfer Note.
Do not BURN your waste
Producing dark smoke is an offence under the Clean Air Act and could lead to legal action by this Council.
If any smoke causes a nuisance to neighbours, legal action may be taken.
Burning waste in an incinerator may require an annual Permit from the Council.

You could face a fine of £50,000 and a prison sentence of up 5 years.
