Tenders and contracts - Procurement
Selling and Buying Goods and Services with South Shropshire District Council
The Council provides many different services to the public, and works with many different organisations in order to help deliver these services.
Procurement is pivotal to everything that we do as an organisation.
Every Council service procures goods and services both internally and externally and we must take every opportunity to examine all of the possible alternative methods of service delivery.
Each year South Shropshire District Council spends approximately £4 million on the procurement of goods, works and services.
The Council's strategic objectives for this procurement spend are as follows -
- Procurement must contribute to the realisation of the Council's vision and aims to support its core values and the achievement of strategic objectives and statutory duties;
- Best value must be obtained from the Council's procurement spend;
- All major procurement projects must be professionally managed so that they are successful and the intended benefits are realised;
- Partnering must be considered as a procurement strategy for all major projects; and
- There must be a successful transition to e-commerce as part of the Council's local e-government strategy.
Please view the Procurement Strategy, which has been produced within the remit of the National Procurement Strategy for Local Authorities.
