Health and Safety - Private Sector Service
The primary aim of the Health and Safety Private Sector Service is to:-
Identify and rectify in work places within the Council is responsible for enforcement, conditions which present hazards to employers, the self-employed, employees and all other persons coming into contact the business.
A further aim is to ensure adequate provision for the welfare of employees in such premises.
The purpose of the service, therefore, is to protect health and safety in the workplace.
The Commercial Team officers carry out the following functions in relation to health and safety:-
- The Registration and Inspection of premises where safety is enforced by local authorities (e.g. shops, offices, warehouses, leisure)
- Responding to complaints
- Provision of Advice to Businesses
- Investigating Accidents/incidents reported
