Housing Strategy Public Consultation 10th July to 3rd October 2008
We are delighted to be able to introduce the inaugural Shropshire Council Housing Strategy for 2009 - 2011,&,nbsp, "Foundations for our Future". This milestone strategy communicates a new sense of identity, confidence and purpose about the new Council and the communities it represents. For the first time, it recognises and seeks to address the fundamental housing challenges that we face in trying to achieve balanced and sustainable communities within Shropshire.
Housing Strategy
The Council is fully aware of the range of housing pressures that present themselves across the District and has adopted a raft of comprehensive strategies/ polices aimed at addressing these issues. The Council works enthusiastically with a wide range of partners within the District across the County and further afield to offset these difficulties.&,nbsp,

H1 - Home Energy Conservation Act

The Council is aware that the Government is soon to introduce a new regime in respect of the improvement of private sector housing. In advance of the confirmation of the details of the Government''''s proposals, it has earmarked funding within its Capital Programme that it intend to employ in respect of private sector housing improvement.
H3 - Shropshire Homelessness Strategy Action Plan
The 2008 -2009 Shropshire Homelessness Strategy Action Plan is the,way for tackling homelessness in Shropshire. Developed from the findings of the 2003 - 2008 Shropshire Homelessness Strategy Review, the new Strategy Action Plan aims to proactively prevent homelessness in the county.
H3 - Homelessness Strategy
The main thrust of this strategy is to have homelessness dealt with in a strategic manner and to look for ways of pre-empting homelessness occurring in the first place.
South Shropshire District Council has worked closely with the other District/Borough Councils in Shropshire, the Primary Care Trust, the Social Services Dept. of the County Council, Shelter and voluntary organisations and service users in drafting the Shropshire Homelessness Strategy.
H8 - Summary of latest Housing Needs Survey Assessment
The survey provides key estimates on the numbers and types of households in housing need and how needs levels are likely to change in the future. This information is coupled with an analysis of the supply of affordable housing to estimate the requirement for additional affordable housing.

Affordable Homes (For South Shropshire''''s People)
Fuel Poverty Strategy
From 1 April 2000, Central Government introduced a new requirement for energy conservation authorities to report on their policies, strategies and achievements to help reduce fuel poverty in their communities. This is the first report prepared by South Shropshire District Council for submission with the fourth annual Home Energy Conservation Act (HECA) progress report. Since then, further reports on progress with tackling fuel poverty are incorporated with the annual HECA progress reports.
