a person who has more than £16,000 in capital or savings is not usually entitled to Housing or Council Tax Benefit, except those in receipt of Pension Credit Guarantee(There is no capital limit for people in receipt of Pension Credit Guarantee)
Any capital or savings under £3000 is not taken into account we are working out how much benefit you may get
If you have over £6000 in capital or savings and are under 60, we will add £1 onto you income for every £250 or part of that you go over £6000 when we are working out your benefit.
If you or your partner are a pensioner, we will add £1 per week onto your income for every £500, or part of, that you have over £6000 when we are working out your benefit.
