Can benefit be restricted?
Housing Benefit can be restricted if the rent you are charged is seen as being too expensive, compared to other rents in the area
Housing Benefit can be restricted if the property you live in is too large for your needs. For example you are a single person but have two bedrooms
This decision is not made by South Shropshire District Council, it is done by an independent company called the Rent Officer Service
You can find out if your Housing Benefit will be restricted before you move into a property by asking for a Pre Tenancy Determination (forms available from the Benefit Section)
