Elections & Electoral Registration

Both the Elections and Electoral Registration processes have to be undertaken strictly in accordance with rules and regulations set by Parliament.

Elections:

Elections have to be undertaken strictly in accordance with Rules and Regulations set by Parliament.

South Shropshire District Council is responsible for running European Parliament, Parliament, County Council, District Council and Town/Parish Council Elections.

Electoral Registration:

The Council has a statutory requirement to maintain an up-to-date Electoral Register.

A full postal canvass for all households is undertaken every year to ensure that the Register is reviewed as cost effectively as possible.

Forms are therefore delivered to every household in the District for return to the Council by 15th October each year so that the revised Register can be published by 1st December.
