Pollution control - contaminated land
Since April 2000, the Council has been developing and implementing a strategy setting out how we will inspect, identify and ensure the remediation of land which meets the statutory definition of contaminated land in the district.
Remediation of contaminated land will remove any unacceptable risks to the environment or human health and will encourage sustainable development by bringing previously-used land back into beneficial use.
A public register of land determined by the Council as being contaminated, and where that land has been remediated, is available for viewing at the Council offices.
