Council tax - do I qualify for a discount?
The full Council Tax bill assumes that two adults, aged 18 or over live at the property.
However, if only one person is living at the property the council tax can be reduced by 25%. This is known as a SINGLE PERSON DISCOUNT
In certain circumstances people living at a property can be disregarded for council tax purposes. Therefore, if there are two people resident and one person is disregarded they might be entitled to a 25% discount, if two people are disregarded the discount is 50%.
