Leisure and Culture
South Shropshire District Council seeks to encourage and increase the participation in sports, physical education, arts and leisure pursuits by pursuing a range of objectives including the provision of additional facilities, supporting leisure & arts groups, improving the standards of performance and developing excellence.
Sports, leisure and the arts offer direct economic benefits to an area. They contribute to the regeneration of towns and communities, improving health, productivity and quality of life. Sports and leisure contribute to savings in the cost of health care and lead to a reduction in crime and vandalism; they offer local environmental benefits that can change the image of a town or community and lead to increased inward investment.
