Website Statistics

Part of the job of the ICT Web Development Team is to maintain and analyse statistics for the South Shropshire District Council website. This enables them to get a better picture of visitors' browsing patterns, such as which pages are the most popular, which search engines people find the site from, which browser types people have etc. The site can then be fine-tuned to offer the optimum performance based on this information. The statistics also enable us to fix any errors such as missing files and broken links.

As part of this exercise South Shropshire must also regularly publish some of these statistics for public use. The following table provides the relevant information.

Visitors: This figure represents the number of unique visitors during the relevant period. This means that any visitor who has already been to the site during this period is not counted again.

Pages Viewed: This figure represents the total number of pages viewed. If a visitor visits a page more than once during the same session or in the relevant period, it is re-counted.

The next table represents the most popular pages over the last month.

Website uptime stats: The uptime stats page will give you statistics reporting on our Internet server uptime.
